Rugby Linux Users Group
Rugby Linux Users Group is an active and growing group who share an interest in free and open source software and hardware, and who are based in and around Rugby in the UK. From novice to expert, we welcome everyone - all we ask is that you have an interest in Linux!
Since December 2007, the group has met every month and continues to grow in size. As of 2012 we have about 50 members on the mailing list.
We meet as a group for technical meetings on the second Monday of each month (except Bank Holidays). All meetings are held in the centre of Rugby and are free to attend.
An introduction to using XML data and the various ways of manipulating and viewing it. We are also likely to include discussion of the Government's current Open Standards Consultation and whether we should formulate a group response.
Meeting to take place at credativ, 36 Regent Street, Rugby, CV21 2PS, starting at 20:00.

On Saturday September 17th, 2011 Rugby Linux Users Group held its first-ever Software Freedom Day event to promote free and open source software (FLOSS) to the local community.
Running from 12pm - 4pm at the Benn Partnership Centre (Railway Terrace, Rugby, CV21 3HR) we ran demonstrations and hands-on experiences of a whole range of free software aimed at the home user, education and business. Specialists were on hand throughout the afternoon to offer guidance and there will also be the opportunity to take away free software.

The Rugby LUG mailing list is the first port of call for information on upcoming group events and for discussion between members. The list is not high volume and all LUG members are encouraged to sign up.
The group is a member of the O'Reilly User Group programme, and we may be able to get review copies of recent O'Reilly publications in exchange for user reviews and feedback. We can also get discounts on new purchases for members.
